Part-time Work

Never discount the experience you can get from any part-time job you take. Whether you are waiting tables, being a cashier, mowing the lawn, etc., you are gaining experience No matter what type of job you take; all jobs provide you with an opportunity to learn something. The learning may be as simple as, “you will never take another job like this again.”

Part-time work doesn’t just give you extra spending money. It provides you with a way to:

• gain experience,
• develop a track record,
• add to your knowledge and skills base,
• expand your network, and
• add to your resume.

It also may just lead you to a permanent job.

One word of caution with regards to part time work: When your part-time job begins to take over and working a shift is more important than school, it is time to re-evaluate your priorities.
