World of IT

Knowledge Economy

The knowledge economy covers every aspect of acquiring, creating, organizing and distributing knowledge. It involves everything from satellite images used for pest control, to intra-office networks and just-in-time manufacture of goods, delivered directly to customers.

The Knowledge Edge

The power in the knowledge economy lies in using knowledge to create an advantage – better price, better delivery – compelling customers to choose a specific product or service. The key is to deliver what customers want now, while anticipating and working toward delivering what they will want in the future.

Students in grade 10 and 11 now are as old as the first personal computers. They are totally at ease with the concept of ordering a customized car the same way you would order a pizza. They will be the future leaders of the knowledge economy. They have grown up in a wired world. They are comfortable with technology that has them chatting online, keeping in touch with cell phones and pagers. They are also the elementary students that think nothing of putting together school newsletters on a computer, researching projects on the Internet, e-mailing pen pals in other countries. Children of today are picking up technological savvy as easily as schoolyard games.

They will be equipped to meet the challenges of the future workplace where information technology will be all-encompassing.
